Route designed to explore the remote north of Kenya, the last tribal frontier of the main economy of East Africa. We will reach the Ethiopian border in search of the most traditional societies that survive in this arid still untamed territory. The trip is planned as an ethnographic expedition to coexist with different peoples, some better known as the Samburus or Turkanas and others unknown as the Njemps or the Sakuyes. We will travel in 4x4 vehicles and we will camp for much of the trip. We will bring a cook and local guides to communicate and photograph the different tribes.

Guide: Joan Riera, graduated in anthropology and sociology from the University of Richmond (UK). He has been working in Africa since 2002 where he has lived and studied various tribal societies.

DAY 1 (Saturday 6 March): SPAIN - NAIROBI
Departure from Barcelona or Madrid towards Nairobi. PCR 72h before departure and yellow fever vaccination. Night flight

DAY 2: ARRIVAL IN NAIROBI - DOL DOL (5h)
Arrival. Visa processing at the airport. Breakfast and departure to Dol Dol. The target is the northern Maasai tribes and the Ariangulu gatherers and hunters (also known as waata or wasanye). Accommodation in Guesthouse. FB

DAY 3: DOL DOL - CHURO (5h)
Breakfast and morning to visit the tribal villages in the area. The Maasai villages in the area are the northernmost. We will see the differences with the better known Maasai on the border with Tanzania. The Ariangulu minority have now assimilated their Maasai neighbors in language and culture but continue to collect honey like their hunter and gatherer ancestors. After the visit we will continue to the Lake Baringo region where we will meet the Pokot and Njemps or Ilchamus tribes. Accommodation in tents. FB

DAY 4: CHURO
Breakfast. We will spend the whole day exploring this tribal territory little visited by tourism. The Pokot often steal the cattle of their Turkana and Samburu neighbors and practice female genital cutting. They are in the process of change due to the entry of missionaries. The Njemps are an ethnic minority. Let's see what remains of the traditional culture. Accommodation in tents. FB

DAY 5: CHURO - MARALAL - BARAGOI (4h)
Breakfast. Farewell to the Pokot territory and arrival on the land of Samburu and Turkana, one of the most conservative peoples in northern Kenya. We will visit nomadic settlements of both tribes and spend the night in one of them. Accommodation in tents. FB

DAY 6: BARAGOI - LOYANGALANI (3h)
Breakfast. We will continue exploring the tribal territory of the Turkana and Samburus. We will arrive in the afternoon to the town of Loyangalani near Lake Turkana. Rest in the accommodation. Dinner in the center of town. Accommodation in Guesthouse. FB

DAY 7: LOYANGALANI
Breakfast. Today we will visit the last el-molo, a minority assimilated to the Samburus and Turkana who live from fishing and hunting crocodiles in Lake Turkana. After visiting the el-molo we will continue to the Rendille territory and look for an elderly woman to show us the old clay headdresses. Accommodation in Guesthouse. FB

DAY 8: LOYANGALANI - LAKE TURKANA (4h)
Breakfast. Route north to visit more Rendille communities and other nomadic tribes in the area of ??the Oromo group such as the Grabra, dromedary herders. We will camp with one of these nomadic tribes. Accommodation in tents. FB

DAY 9: LAKE TURKANA - ILERET (3h)
Breakfast. Route to the Ethiopian border. We will reach the territory of the dassanetch, a Nilotic people who also live in the Omorate region in neighboring Ethiopia. We will spend the night in a dassanetch village. Accommodation in tents. FB

DAY 10: ILERET - ETHIOPIAN BORDER - MOYALE (8h)
Breakfast. Last explorations in this remote region of Lake Turkana. Parallel to the Ethiopian border we will go to Moyale, the regional capital. We will visit nomadic communities in the driest part of northern Kenya, north of the mythical Chalbi desert. We will try to visit the unknown Sakuye tribe, related to the Gabbra Breakfast. Arrival in Moyale and rest in the accommodation. Visit the market to see the great cultural diversity of this border area. The different Borana groups and Somali tribes such as the Garre or Garee stand out. Accommodation in Guesthouse. FB

DAY 11: MOYALE - MARSABIT (4h)
Breakfast. Last visits by Moyale and route back to the south via Marsabit. We return to rendille territory. Visit the market and traditional villages near the city. Accommodation in Guesthouse. FB

DAY 12: MARSABIT - NAIROBI (8h)
Breakfast. Long route to Nairobi. Stops en route. Arrival in the Kenyan capital in the highlands. PCR test in laboratory (80USD) result in 8h. Dinner at a restaurant in downtown Nairobi. Hotel accommodation. HB (lunch)

DAY 13: NAIROBI
Breakfast. Day to explore the Kenyan capital. Collection of PCR results at the indicated time. Farewell dinner. Hotel accommodation. BB

DAY 14: NAIROBI - FLIGHT HOME
Breakfast and transfer to the airport to catch an international flight home. BB

DAY 15: ARRIVAL HOME END OF OUR SERVICES
