We will explore the magic Abbe and Assal salt lakes of Djibouti\u2019s wild interior, the forested hills of Day, the last Afar nomads in the region, and the secluded Sultanate of Tadjoura, capital of the Afar nation and one of the oldest cities in the region. We will meet members of the royal family and attend an Afar ceremony where the young women will show off all their gold jewelry and special hairstyles. Lake Abbe<\/h4>\n

During this trip to Djibouti, we will be able to take a walk around the area near Lake Abbe. We will admire a true \u201cforest\u201d of limestone chimneys surrounded by springs of bubbling and sulfurous water. In addition to the limestone chimneys, we will also be able to see pink flamingos and hot springs.<\/div>\n

On this trip to Djibouti, we will visit the Lake Assal, which is the lowest point in Africa (150 m below sea level) and the saltiest lake in the world. The stifling heat and the intense turquoise color of the lake will transport us to a magical and unreal landscape. We will take a walk through a nearby canyon and along the saline shore of the lake with the evening lights.<\/p>\n

We will be able to take a double walking excursion through the volcanic Rift zone. Between Lake Assal and the Gulf of Ghoubet there is a 7 km volcanic area with lunar landscapes and chaotic geology. We are in the Red Sea rift, where Africa separates from Asia, an exceptional region. We will walk to the Ghoubet belvedere, which offers a spectacular view over the Gulf of Ghoubet and Lake Assal. Also, we will look into the crack that splits the country in two and approach the young Ardoukoba volcano before returning to eat in Goubet Bay, with the possibility of swimming with some coral bottom and a walk to the shark pit. Ghoubet Lake is linked to the Gulf of Tadjoura by a narrow area surrounded by black and steep mountains. Protruding out of the water is Devil\u2019s Island, which is an ancient underwater crater.<\/p>\n

Day Forest National Park<\/h4>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Within the Goda massif is found the Forest Day National Park, the ceiling of the trip (1,550 m altitude), with a juniper forest fighting for its survival, and from where we will enjoy great views over the Gulf of Tadjoura and we will walk through the forest.<\/p>\n

Allols Depression<\/h4>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The Allols Depression is one of the most spectacular natural areas in the Horn of Africa, and during this trip to Djibouti, we will have the opportunity to visit it. This landscape is made up of faults, folds, ancient lava, salt fields and black igneous rocks. The Allols Depression is supplied with seawater through underground fractures. We will have the opportunity to talk to the Afar aristocracy and introduce ourselves. We will have a traditional meal with our hosts, and in the evening we will be able to attend a traditional dance to admire the stunning gala dresses worn by the women and their spectacular jewelry and hairstyles. Also, we will visit the mosque, the cemetery, the old buildings and the port.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
