We will explore Gabon\u2019s rich fauna in three fascinating national parks: Moukalaba-Doudou, Waka and Loango. These parks offer the opportunity to see gorillas, elephants, hippopotamuses, humpback whales and much more. In addition, during this trip to Gabon, we will immerse ourselves in the culture and spirituality of the Bantu and Babongo (pygmies) ethnic groups through their ceremonies of Bwiti, Ndjembe or Mukudji, among others. This is a circular route in which we will combine offroad vehicles with boats and incredible treks with porters to access these places that are still intact. Lambar\u00e9n\u00e9: history, culture and the legacy of Albert Schweitzer<\/h3>\n

We will begin our trip to Gabon in Lambar\u00e9n\u00e9, a city located in the heart of the country. Here, we will visit the famous hospital founded by Dr Albert Schweitzer, a key figure in Gabon\u2019s history. During the journey, we will cross rural landscapes and discover places of cultural interest. Upon arrival, we will relax by the Ogoou\u00e9 River and enjoy the local atmosphere.<\/p>\n

Waka National Park and the Babongo people: ancestral rituals and traditions<\/h3>\n

We will continue our trip to Gabon towards Sindara, where we will cross the L\u2019Ngunie River to enter Waka National Park. This remote area is home to the Babongo ethnic group. Here, we will experience something truly unique, as we witness traditional ceremonies and share meals prepared by women from the community. We will explore a rarely visited region that preserves ancient spiritual practices and a deep connection with the forest.<\/p>\n

Meeting with the Punu people<\/h3>\n

Later, we will travel to Mouila, cultural capital of the Punu people. This stage of our trip to Gabon will allow us to better understand Punu identity, known for their white masks and rich artistic heritage. During this trip to Gabon, we will witness the Mukudjo mask ceremony, an ancestral expression of Punu culture.<\/p>\n

Moukalaba-Doudou: deep forest and great apes<\/h3>\n

From Tchibanga we will take 4×4 vehicles into Moukalaba-Doudou National Park. This park is home to one of the highest densities of great apes in the world. We will move through the park by canoe and on foot, searching for lowland gorillas. After exploring the jungle, in the evening we will attend a traditional Bwiti Dissoumba ceremony.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Sett\u00e9 Cama: lagoons, Atlantic coast and night safari<\/h3>\n

We will then visit the Gabon Untouched cooperation projects in Doussala before returning to Tchibanga. From there, we will travel to Sett\u00e9 Cama by combining road and river navigation. This remote enclave lies between Ndougopu Lagoon and Loango National Park.<\/p>\n

In Sett\u00e9 Cama we will embark on a night safari along the lagoon, an ideal setting for silent wildlife observation under the African sky. Here we will feel the raw power of the Atlantic coast.<\/p>\n

Akaka: deep jungle and forest elephants<\/h3>\n

We will set off early for the most demanding hike of the trip to Gabon, several hours through the Loango forest until we reach Akaka. Once there, we will explore the heart of the park by boat and on foot, searching for elusive forest elephants.<\/p>\n

During the dry season, vast grasslands emerge from the vegetation. These landscapes provide excellent opportunities to observe herbivores, primates, crocodiles and numerous bird species.<\/p>\n

Finally, we will take a boat safari through the Loango rivers and Iguela lagoon.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Humpback whale watching*<\/h3>\n

We will travel by road to Port Gentil. Here, we will have the opportunity to take a marine safari in search of humpback whales, as Gabon hosts one of Africa\u2019s largest whale migrations.<\/p>\n
