The Yi People: An Immersion into One of Southwest China's Great Cultures

Also, we will enjoy a memorable train journey through the Liangshan Mountains, offering an exceptional opportunity to observe rural life and the landscapes that define this remote region of southwest China. Later, we will explore the Butuo region, one of the areas where Yi cultural identity has been best preserved. Finally, we will visit the traditional livestock market of Tuojue, one of the region's most authentic trading centres. Here, Yi traders, herders and livestock farmers gather in a lively marketplace that offers a fascinating insight into the community's traditional way of life. Yuanyang: The Hani Rice Terraces

During our stay, we will enjoy photographic sessions from the viewpoints overlooking Xinjie and Yuanyang, where the cascading terraces create some of the region's most breathtaking panoramas. Yunnan's Ethnic Markets: A Cultural Mosaic of Southern China

Here, Hani, Yi, Miao and Yao communities come together, their colourful traditional costumes and enduring customs providing a remarkable showcase of southern China's rich ethnic heritage.
