Discover the highlights of this nature trip to Uganda
► Murchison Falls: Large Mammals and the White Nile
Our nature trip to Uganda will begin in Murchison Falls National Park. On the way, we will stop at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, where we will track rhinos in one of the country’s most important conservation projects. Later, we will go on a safari across the northern savannahs. We will see buffaloes, elephants, lions, leopards, Uganda kob antelopes and numerous bird species. After that, we will take a boat trip along the White Nile. From the boat, we will observe crocodiles, hippos and the remarkable birdlife that defines this ecosystem. Finally, we will witness the dramatic plunge of the falls, one of the most iconic sights of our nature trip to Uganda.
► Tropical Forests and Primates: Kibale and Its Chimpanzee
We will continue our nature trip to Uganda towards the humid forests of Kibale. Here we will experience one of the most memorable moments of the journey: chimpanzee tracking. We will walk among centuries-old trees while listening to their vocalisations and observing their social behaviour. Also, we will explore the Bigodi Wetland, an area full of birds, monkeys and lush vegetation. Later, we will learn about coffee production, a key crop in rural Ugandan life.
► Kafunjo Community Project: convivencia y cultura
We will spend two days living alongside the Kafunjo community. During this part of our nature trip to Uganda, we will take part in their daily activities. We will play with the children, walk through the village, pick coffee and share traditional meals. Also, we will observe birds in the surrounding area and learn how educational and agricultural projects create real opportunities. This time with the community will allow us to understand another dimension of Uganda beyond its wildlife.
► Mountain Gorillas: Encounter in the Volcanoes
After saying goodbye to Kafunjo, we will continue to Mgahinga National Park. Here we will track mountain gorillas, one of the most emblematic experiences of a nature trip to Uganda. We will walk along volcanic slopes until we find a gorilla family and quietly observe their behaviour. The next day, we will enter the forest again for a second tracking experience. Finally, we will head to Lake Bunyonyi, a serene landscape surrounded by green hills.
► Lake Bunyonyi: Lakeside Scenery and Outdoor Experiences
At Lake Bunyonyi we will enjoy several activities. We will have the chance to try zip-lining, take canoe rides and go on short walks around the area. This stage of our nature trip to Uganda will allow us to relax and connect with one of the country’s most beautiful lakeside landscapes.
► Lake Mburo: Peaceful Savannahs and Remarkable Biodiversity
We will then travel to Lake Mburo National Park. Here we will go on a walking safari and observe zebras, giraffes, warthogs and antelopes. We will also take a boat trip on the lake to spot crocodiles, fish eagles, kingfishers and many other bird species that make Mburo a paradise for birdwatchers. This quieter, less visited environment will add a distinctive and more intimate perspective to our nature trip to Uganda.
► Mabamba Swamp and the Search for the Shoebill
To conclude our nature trip to Uganda, we will take a boat into Mabamba Swamp. Here we will look for the famous shoebill, one of Africa’s most distinctive birds. This wetland environment will allow us to observe numerous species before heading to the airport for our return flight.
