Discover the highlights of this trip to Nepal
► Bhaktapur and the Kathmandu Valley
On our trip to Nepal we will begin by exploring Bhaktapur, a medieval jewel of the Kathmandu Valley. We will walk through its squares and temples, recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. We will wander along its cobbled streets and discover the artistic legacy of the Newar people, which is still alive in the city. Afterwards, we will head into Kathmandu, the spiritual and cultural heart of the country. We will visit iconic temples such as Swayambhunath, known as the “Monkey Temple”, and Pashupatinath, one of the most revered Hindu sanctuaries in the world. We will lose ourselves among vibrant alleys where the sacred and the everyday blend in perfect harmony.
► In the Land of the Honey Hunters
Our trip to Nepal will take us to the land of the legendary honey hunters. For three days we will accompany these collectors on their journey in search of wild bees. We will learn about their culture and way of life, passed down from generation to generation. We will witness a dangerous ancestral tradition. The honey hunters climb cliffs up to 300 metres high without modern protection. They use rope ladders and smoke to drive away the giant Himalayan bees. The honey they collect is renowned for its psychoactive and medicinal properties. This red honey is valued both for its mild hallucinogenic effects and for its role in traditional medicine. We will dedicate one day to reaching the area, another to attending their animist rituals and the honey collection itself. After two nights of camping in the heart of the forest, we will return to the village, having experienced one of the most fascinating traditions in Asia.
► Trekking through Traditional Himalayan Villages
On this trip to Nepal we will also explore different mountain villages on foot. We will walk several hours each day, enjoying beautiful landscapes and meeting communities that maintain their traditional way of life. We will share moments with the inhabitants and understand the importance of nature in their daily routines.
► Gurung Full Moon Festival
During our trip to Nepal we will attend the Gurung Full Moon Festival, known as Tamu Lhosar. We will celebrate the New Year with this community in an event that blends animism, Buddhism, and Hinduism. We will enjoy colourful parades, ethnic music, traditional dances, and local food. It will be a festive and spiritual experience open only to a fortunate few.
