► Living with nomadic Kyrgyz families
During this trip to Kyrgyzstan, we will have the opportunity to live with nomadic herder families in their traditional yurts. We will share their daily activities, such as herding livestock, making traditional dairy products, and preparing food. This immersion will allow us to gain a deeper understanding of their lifestyle and ancient traditions.
► Trekking in alpine landscapes
We'll hike through stunning mountain landscapes during our trip to Kyrgyzstan, including a 13-km trek to the alpine Son Kul Lake, located at an altitude of 3,000 meters. Along the way, we'll enjoy panoramic views and local flora and fauna, experiencing the serenity of the Kyrgyz highland pastures.
► Exploring remote lakes
We'll visit Lake Kel Suu, a body of water hidden between cliffs and glaciers, considered one of the most impressive places in Central Asia. This lake, which has remained untouched for years due to its inaccessibility, offers a unique experience of connecting with unspoiled nature on this unforgettable trip to Kyrgyzstan.
► Participation in nomadic transhumance during the trip to Kyrgyzstan
We will accompany a nomadic family on their seasonal migration, driving their cattle through mountain passes. This experience will allow us to experience the tradition of transhumance firsthand, facing the challenges of the terrain and sharing the responsibility of caring for the herd.
► Traditional falconry demonstration
In the Naryn region, we will attend a Kyrgyz falconry demonstration, an ancient hunting technique originating in the Altai Mountains of Siberia. We will observe how local falconers train and handle their birds of prey, understanding the cultural significance of this practice in Kyrgyz identity.
► We will attend traditional equestrian games
We'll witness Kok Buru, the most popular equestrian game among Kyrgyz nomads. This sport, similar to polo but played with a goat carcass, reflects the skill and competitive spirit of the region's herders.
► Visit archaeological and historical sites on our trip to Kyrgyzstan
We'll explore the archaeological site of Balasagun, the ancient capital of the Turkestan Empire, and the Burana Minaret. These visits will allow us to learn about the region's rich history and the diverse cultures and religions that have inhabited Central Asia over the centuries.
► Traditional textile crafts workshop
In Kochkor, we will visit a women's cooperative that produces "shyrdaks," nomadic felted rugs and textile decorations. We will participate in a workshop where we will learn the process of making these handcrafted pieces, from wool extraction to the final product.
► Yurt camp experience during the trip to Kyrgyzstan
We will stay in yurt camps located in stunning natural settings. These stays will provide us with an authentic nomadic experience, allowing us to appreciate the architecture and functionality of yurts in the context of life in the Kyrgyz mountains.
► Interaction with the local community
We will have multiple opportunities to interact with the local community, participating in their celebrations, sharing traditional foods, and learning about their culture and customs. These interactions will enrich our understanding of life in Kyrgyzstan and foster meaningful cultural exchange.
