After 25 years exploring and discovering new interesting places in Cameroon, the Last Places team once again proposes a unique experience in Cameroon. The improvement of the state of the road that connects Yaoundé with Ngaunderé allows us to go in an air-conditioned minibus to the north and enjoy the change of landscapes (from the tropical forest to the dry savannahs of the Benué Valley) and the discovery of little-known tribes such as the berries, mbums and durus. From Ngaunderé, a growing Muslim metropolis, we will experience unusual ceremonies such as the Mbum masquerades and the Guerewol flirtation among young Fulani, all unique cultural experiences that do not appear in most circuits. This is possible due to Last Places' extensive knowledge of the cultural and social reality of Cameroon.

It is an ethnographic, architecture, history and nature journey where we will coexist with different cultural realities and enjoy unique contrasts that give Cameroon the nickname of Africa in miniature. Live with the last clans of traditional Baka Pygmies

The Baka Pygmies of Cameroon have a special connection with the tropical forest and retain much of their animist culture. We will enjoy their polyphonic songs and the sacred dance Ejengi (spirit of the jungle) in this magical place in the middle of the jungle.

Discover the colonial architecture of the Germanic period

We will pass through some towns of colonial origin where some buildings from the Germanic period (1884-1916) still remain.

Expedition to the Adamawa Plateau in search of little-known ethnic groups

We will cross the territory of the Bayas, a little-known ethnic group but with its own elements of interest. We will stop at a couple of villages before arriving at the Kingdom of Idool (Fulanis), a small oasis in the middle of the Adamawa Plateau. On the way to Ngaunderé we will visit a traditional Durú village (aboriginal Adamawa ethnic group). Continuing our journey north we will witness the traditional dances of 2 cultural communities. In the more traditional mbums (animist farmers) villages they continue to preserve the masked dances. We will also have the opportunity to attend a Gerewol ceremony, a flirtation ceremony for young Fulanis.

Architectural tour of Ngaoundéré

The city of Ngaoundéré maintains its old medieval atmosphere around the Lamido Palace (Sultanate), the old quarter, where some traditional adobe houses survive, and the old colonial market.

Live unique cultural experiences with the ethnic groups of the Faro Valley

One of the most fascinating peoples in the Valle de Faro are undoubtedly the Mbororo, a nomadic cattle-raising ethnic group that preserves its traditional culture. They also maintain the custom of decorating the face and part of the body with beautiful and complex tattoos that mark the social class and marital status of the wearer. We will get to know the architecture, sacred forests, and customs of the Dupá, who continue to cling to their ancestral way of life. We will stop at a Dowayo village, an ethnic group related to the Dupá.
