Last Places have designed this ethnographic trip to southern Nigeria with the aim of learning about the worldview of the Yoruba ethnic group, as well as the Orisha religion, also known as Voodoo. This trip has been designed for lovers of cultures and religions, passionate about history and adventurers.

This ethnographic trip to southern Nigeria, focusing on the so-called ‘Yoruba country’, combines ethnographic experiences with historical and cultural heritage visits. We will explore Lagos’ popular neighborhoods such as Makoko and Lagos Island. Also, we will visit the Abeokuta fetish market, where all the ingredients for making amulets and magic potions can be found, such as live and dried chameleons, chimpanzee limbs, plants with medicinal and mystical uses, etc. In addition, we will visit sacred places for the Yoruba religion such as Olumo Rock, the Ife museum and the sacred Yoruba forest of Oshogbo (UNESCO heritage), as well as religious sanctuaries. We will also have the opportunity to witness a twin ceremony, as well as Zangbeto, Egunuko, Egungun and Geledes masquerades. Additionally, we will discover exceptional Afro-Brazilian architecture in little-visited cities such as Ijebu Ode and Abeokuta.
