27 December - 07 January ( 11 días / 10 noches ) / TRIP COMPLETED

This ethnographic journey allows the traveler to spend qualitative time with the most traditional ethnic groups of South Sudan. We will camp near the tribal communities to experience their day to day life and thus be able to capture this unique and singular world that has been hidden from the World due to a long Civil War that affected South Sudan from 1957 to 2005. The country is changing rapidly, with new roads, NGOs and missionaries all over the country. The Last Tribes South Sudan project aims to empower these last tribes through responsible tourism so that they can protect their identity and, at the same time, decide their own future. During the trip we will visit three ecosystems: mountains, bush savannah and the White Nile wetland area.

The most isolated tribes of Africa

In South Sudan we will find the most unspoiled cultures in all of East Africa. There, the iconic Dinka and Mundari still live in their cattle camps and the incredible Larim women continue to scarify their bodies and faces.

Vernacular architecture still very alive

South Sudan is home to some of the best examples of vernacular architecture in Africa. Vernacular tribal architecture, unlike the rest of the African continent, continues to thrive in South Sudan. This is due to the fact that most tribes still live far from the globalizing currents and economic changes that have affected most African societies.
